Ana Elvira GARCÍA LÓPEZ
I am a decorative painter and mural artist, committed to the practice of traditional techniques, which I apply both to heritage conservation and restoration and to contemporary creation.
I am particularly interested in natural materials and especially in the technique of buon fresco, which I practice within the association Pari(s) Affresco for its direct connection to architecture and its deeply ecological dimension. This approach is part of a broader reflection on sustainability, transmission, and respect for places. In the same spirit, I am a member of La Réserve des Arts and incorporate reclaimed materials into my practice whenever possible, following a circular economy approach.
With a strong background in art history, a close attention to the Parisian contemporary art scene, and an active engagement in dance—notably within the Flamenco en France peña—I cultivate a wide curiosity for artistic expression, ranging from music and cinema to poetry.
This sensitive and embodied approach, shaped by my previous background in social sciences, leads me to conceive mural art as inseparable from its architectural, social, and historical context. Painted decorations are not reproducible objects meant for consumption, but monumental works to be crossed and inhabited, engaging the body and movement. Walls carry and transmit memories; mural work therefore contributes to a social impact, by engaging in dialogue with the history of places, their uses, and the people who move through them.
I develop my work within a shared studio alongside other artisans and artists—an environment of exchange and synergy that enriches both my artistic research and my decorative projects. Drawing, particularly from the live model, plays a central role in my practice as an essential tool for observation, precision of gesture, and formal research.
Alongside restoration projects and commissioned work, I also develop original creations intended for mural applications across various media—painted décors, wallpapers, and applications in the textile industry.
